The Studio
The Studio is an 'art gallery' created
to turn drab and depressing shop frontages into a vibrant
space. Here local people can display their creativity. We
plan is to turn the empty space behind the shop frontage into
artists' studios.
The works featured in The Studio have
been paintings by various local artists and local people. These
people attended the craft café which was based in the Elderpark
centre. Locals such as Alan Gibson from Nimmo Drive and Jimmy
Docherty from Greenfield Street kindly allowed the Association to
display their work. Pottery done by local young people through
Aberlour Childcare Trust was also exhibited.
The Association is keen to display
works by other local people/artists and local children.
The creation of The Studio there has
had a positive knock-on effect on the exterior appearance of the
surrounding shop fronts. For example, the chip shop and deli have
recently had a facelift which has improved the corner of Crossloan
Road and Uist Street visually.
